The prices on this site are estimates, not quotes
This is the most important thing on this page, because this site publishes more pricing than most.
Every cost figure we show is a typical range, drawn from 2026 national repair cost data and from what jobs of that type usually run in this area. They are there so you can walk into the conversation with a sense of the number. They are not an offer, they are not a quote, and they do not bind anyone.
Your actual price depends on the brand, the model, the specific part, how long the job takes and what we find once the machine is open. You will be given a real figure before any work starts, and that figure, not this website, is the price.
The repair-or-replace calculator works the same way. It applies a rule of thumb to average figures. It is a starting point for a decision, not a valuation of your appliance.
The site is information, not professional advice
The symptom guides on this site tell you what a fault usually turns out to be. Usually is not always. Do not treat a web page as a diagnosis.
Do not use this site as instructions to repair an appliance yourself. Two specific warnings we repeat elsewhere and mean: the high voltage capacitor in a microwave holds a charge capable of killing you after the machine is unplugged, and anyone opening a refrigerant circuit is required by federal law to hold EPA Section 608 certification.
If you smell gas, leave and call your gas utility. If you smell burning from an appliance, unplug it if you can do so safely.
Who you contract with
Using this site, or submitting the booking form, does not by itself create a repair contract.
The repair itself is a separate agreement between you and the company that attends, on whatever terms they give you at the time, including their own warranty terms. Links to other sites
We link to outside sources, mostly government ones such as the US Fire Administration, the EPA and ENERGY STAR, so you can check our figures rather than take our word. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content.
Our content
The text, layout and images on this site belong to us or are licensed to us. Photographs are used under their respective licences. Please do not copy the site wholesale. Quoting a paragraph with a link back is fine.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of this website, including any decision you make on the basis of a cost range, a symptom guide or the calculator.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited, including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, and any dispute will be handled in the courts of Kent County, Michigan.
